BANDARBAN: A district court on Saturday sent 42 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir to jail.

Additional chief judicial magistrate Abu Hanif issued the order after they were produced before the court.

Earlier on Friday, police detained 42 leaders and activists of Jamaat, including its municipality Ameer Rezaul Karim, and Chhatra Shibir, including its district unit president Imranul Haque while they were holding a secret meeting.

Later, police filed a case against them.

Bandarban officer-in-charge (OC, investigation) Amir Hossain told banglanews that additional DIG of Chittagong range Mahabubur Rahman and Bandarban police super Mizanur Rahman are interrogating them.
