GAIBANDHA: A district court rejected bail petition of Manzurul Islam Liton MP of Gaibandha-1 constituency in the case of attempted to murder a minor boy Sourav in the area.

District senior judicial magistrate (Sundarganj) Waheduzzaman passed the order after hearing the bail plea on Sunday noon.

On October 21, a bail petition had been filed in the District additional chief judicial magistrate (Sundarganj) court. Then, judge Maynul Hasan Yusuf set October 25 as the date of bail hearing.

Defense lawyer Sirajul Islam Babu told banglanews that after hearing, then judge denied the bail of MP Liton in the cases of attempt to murder and vandalism as well.

Earlier on October 2, MP Liton shot a minor boy Sourav, who is currently under treatment at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital, by his licensed pistol.

Later, the boy’s father filed a case against Liton with Sundarganj Thana of Gaibandha district.

Moreover, one Hafizar Rahman of Sarbananda Union of Sundarganj upazila filed a case against the MP on allegation of vandalism and looting.
