BCL man hacked dead in Noakhali

NOAKHALI:  An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was hacked to death by rival group at Chayani-Togba village in Chatkhil municipality on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Tareq Hossian Swapan (24), son of Siddique Ullah.

Swapan was actively involved in politics of BCL, said party sources.

Locals said the victim opposed newly elected Chatkhil municipality unit BCL general secretary Rabiul Awal Rabin during its council.

Following the incident, a group of Chhatra League activists led-by Rabin, went to Swapan’s house around 11:00am.

At that time, they hacked Swapan indiscriminately, who was asleep in his house, and then fled the scene after firing some blank shots.

Later, family members rushed him to Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Chatkhil Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Nasim Uddin told banglanews that on information, police have been sent to the crime scene.
