4 BNP men to hang in 2 AL men killing case

DHAKA: Speedy Trail Tribunal-1 has sentenced four BNP leaders and activists to hang in a case of killing two ruling Awami League (AL) activists.

Moreover, one BNP man get life term imprisonment and nine others in different terms in the case.

Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 judge Sahed Nur Uddin passed the verdict on Thursday afternoon.

The death sentence awardees are Madaripur district unit BNP leader Mahiuddin Hawladar Moni, his son Sohag Hawladar and Hobi Sikdar and Halim Hawladar.

Among the other awardees, BNP Rajoir upazila unit president Samsul Haque Hawladar received life term sentence.

Madaripur Judge Court former public prosecutor (PP) and also plaintiffs’ lawyer Sujit Chatterjee Bappi said that BNP men killed two AL activists on March 12 in 2003 in a clash centering Khalia Union Parishad election.
