DHAKA: The appellate division (AD) scraped the High Court order that acquitted Giasuddin Al Mamun, a friend and business partner of BNP leader Tarique Rahman, in a case for attaining assets illegally.
The AD bench led-by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Sunday morning after hearing the petition filed by Anti-Corruption commission.
The apex court also ordered for further hearing on the appeal.
Earlier, a Dhaka court in 2008 sentenced Mamun to 10 seven years in prison and fined him Tk 10 lakh of its charges in the case.
On July 30 in 2012, the High Court acquitted him from the charges in reply to his appeal.
Later, ACC appealed before the appellate division challenging the HC order.
