DHAKA: Election Commissioner (EC) secretary Siranjul Islam said that municipality elections will be held in December across the country.

He informed the media at his office in EC secretariat in city Tuesday afternoon.

According to the EC secretary, they have received the gazette of the ordinance on arranging municipality polls under party banner.

‘Prior to that, we had prepared a draft of rules and regulations of the upcoming elections. Now, we will finalize it soon,’ he said.

‘However, the EC will talk to the government press regarding the print of ballot papers.’

‘Decision will be taken later whether the elections will be held at a time,’ the secretary added.

Earlier on November 2, the President issued an ordinance mentioning the municipality polls under party banner. The gazette reached EC on Tuesday.
