FARIDPUR: Police detained 15 leaders-activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Chhatra Shibir, including its upazila and municipality unit Amirs, from different places of the district.

Bhanga Thana officer-in-charge (OC) M Nazmul Islam said that in a nighttime drive, Sadar Upazila Jamaat Amir and also vice-chairman Sarwar Hossain, 45, and a BNP activist were detained from municipality area. 

On the other hand, Madhukhali Thana police said they detained eight Jamaat-Shibir men, including Madhukhali municilpality unit Amir Liakat Hossain in an overnight drive.

Besides, five leaders-activists of Chhatra Shibir were detained from different places under Kotwali Thana. 

Faridpur additional police super M Kamruzzman said joint operation of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Police has started in the district.  As part of the operation, the 15 Jamaat-Shibir men were detained.
