DHAKA: At least 34 leaders and activists of BNP and its major ally Jamaat-e-Islami were detained in accusation and on suspicion of creating violence in Satkhira and Jhenaidah districts on Thursday.
The law enforcers conducted joint drives from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.
Satkhira district police special branch sub-inspector (SI) Enamul Haque told banglanews that the joint force detained one BNP and 26 Jamaat men on suspicion of creating violence in the district.
Moreover, police nabbed seven Jamaat-Shibir men in accusation of creating violence in the district conducting drives in different parts of Jhenaidah district.
Jhenaidah additional police super Azbahar Ali Sheikh confirmed the matter to banglanews.
