LALMONIRHAT: Police arrested 42 people, including 36 activists of BNP and its major ally Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir during drives in different parts of Lalmonirhat district.

The drives were conducted from Saturday noon to Sunday early morning.

Lalmonirhat police super TM Mojahedul Islam said that members of Detective Branch (DB) of police and Thana police conducted separate drives and arrested 42 people.

Among the arrestees, 36 were BNP and Jamaat-Shibir activists, he added.

According to him, the others were warranted accused in several cases.
