DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia slammed the government for its online policy and for closing popular social media Facebook as well.

She said that the government not only has ‘killed’ democracy in the country, it has closed Facebook and imposed restriction on television talk-shows.

Moreover, with an online policy, the government is trying to snatch freedom of the media, she added.

The BNP chairperson made the assertion while addressing the conference of a section of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) at Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium in city on Sunday afternoon.

According to Khaleda Zia, journalists and other professional groups are not safe in or outside of their houses or at their workplaces.

‘As many as 24 journalists, including Sagor and Runi, were killed during the tenure of the government,’ she said.

‘Over two thousand journalists were injured during this period,’ the BNP chief opined.
