DHAKA: Ganajagaran Mancha on Friday declared to gherao the Pakistan High Commission to Bangladesh in the afternoon of January 20 (Wednesday).

Mancha convener Dr Imran H Sarker made the announcement from a protest rally at Shahbagh intersection in city in the afternoon.

“We will gherao the Pakistan High Commission at 3:00pm on the day,” Imran declared.

The Mancha declared the rally and torchlight procession as the government did not take stern measure after the country (Pakistan) asked Bangladesh government to withdraw senior diplomat Moushumi Rahman.

Imran H Sarker further said they urged the government to sever economic and diplomatic ties with Pakistan in this regard.

He also said, “We do not hold grudge against the people of Pakistan. But, our views won’t change as long as Pakistan, as a state, does not apologize to Bangladesh for the mass killings in 1971”.

He also said they gave an ultimatum of 72-hour to the government.

Writer Maruf Rasel, children organizer Tahmin Sultana Sathi and sculptor Bhaskar Rasha were, among others, present here.
