COMILLA: Bangladesh Chhatra Dal Comilla (South) unit threatened to observe hartal if the verdict of BNP senior vice president Tarique Rahman would not be withdrawn by Saturday (July 23).

Unit general secretary Nizam Uddin Kaisar declared the hartal program on Thursday (July 21).

Earlier in the morning, the High Court (HC) sentenced seven-year imprisonment to BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman in a money laundering case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court also fined the BNP leader Tk 20-crore in the case.

An HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain handed down the verdict.
