DHAKA: BNP chairperson’s adviser and former state minister for youth and sports Fazlur Rahman Patal’s body arrived in Dhaka on Saturday evening (August 13).
Shairul Kabir Khan, BNP chairperson’s Press Wing Officer, told banglanews that a Regent Airways flight carried the body from India’s Kolkata.
After some formalities in the airport, an ambulance with the body was brought to his residence in city’s Banasree area around 6:30pm.
Later, it will be kept at BIRDEM Hospital.
Family sources said the first namaz-e-janaza of Patal will be held at Banasree Jame Mosque around 9:00am on Sunday (August 14).
The second janaza would be held in Nayapaltan BNP central office around 10:00am and next janaza at parliament building’s South Plaza around 11:00am.
Later, he will be buried at his family graveyard in Natore.
Earlier on August 11, Patal breathed his last at Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Kolkata.
He served as the state minister for youth and sports during the BNP-led government from 2001-2006.
