COMILLA: A union-level activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a front organization of ruling Awami League (AL), was beaten to death in district’s Sadar Upazila early Thursday (September 8).

The deceased was identified as Oliullah, 25, son of one Harun-ar-Rashid, and nephew of Bijoypur union parishad chairman, also union Awami League general secretary M Selim, hailed from Ratanpur village of the upazila.

Sadar (south) Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nazrul Islam told banglanews that unknown miscreants beaten Oliullah by a hammer on his head in Lalmai Bazar’s Shibpur area on Wednesday night.

He was rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where the succumbed to his injures early Thursday, OC Nazrul added.

He further informed two people were captured in this regard.
