DHAKA: A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained two members of banned extremist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), including its the chief coordinator of Gazipur district, from Chourasta area of the town early Saturday (September 10).

The coordinator was identified as Rashedul alias Swapan, 24.

RAB’s media wing director Mufti Mahmud Khan told banglanews that acting on tip-off they detained Rashedul from the area.

He further said Rashedul was planning to attack Kashimpur jail to snatch Ansarullah Bangla Team’s chief Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmani and other top leaders.

Details will be disclosed at a press briefing at RAB headquarters around 11:00am, he added.
