CHITTAGONG: Miscreants gunned down an Awami League (AL) leader in Bashirkhil village in Satkania upazila of the district on Saturday night (September 10).

The deceased was identified as Zahirul Islam, general secretary to Kanchana union Ward No 7 of the upazila.

Satkani Police officer-in-charge (OC) Fariduddin Khandakar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police sent the body to the morgue and launched investigation to arrest the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the supporters of the AL leader have protested the killing in the area.
