GAZIPUR: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said as much as 78,000 BNP activists were sent to jail in last two years while 1,000 activists shot to death by police.

More than 5,000 activists including BNP leader Ilias Ali, Laksam MP Parvez went missing for a long time and five lakh cases have been filed against seven lakh people.

He made the comments while delivering speech as chief guest in a commemoration program on late leader Brigadier general ASM Hannan Shah at Bangataz Auditorium in Gazipur on Thursday afternoon (October 6).

Gazipur district BNP president AKM Fazlul Haq chaired the program where BNP central committee member Hasan Uddin Sarker, Shahina Khan, Mazharul Alam, Shah Riazul Hannan and Kaliakoir municipal mayor Mujibur Rahman spoke in the program.

Gazipur district BNP general secretary Kazi Sayedul Babul conducted the program.
