3 JMB men jailed for 10-yr in Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI: A district special tribunal sentenced three members of outlaw militant outfit Jamaat-ul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) for 10-year of imprisonment.

They are also fined Tk 2,000 each, in default they will have to stay in jail for more two years.

A special tribunal of Khagrachari District and Session Judge Enamul Haq Bhuiyan passed the verdict on Monday (October 17).

However, the three convicts were in the dock during the announcement of the verdict.

The convicts are Abdur Rahim alias Zahid Hossain, JMB second top leader of Chittagong area hails from Comilla district and Delowar Hossain and Yunus from Matiranga upazila of Khagrachari district.

Public Prosecutor (PP) advocate Bidhan Kanungo said that the security forces conducted a drive in Shantipur area under Matiranga upazila of the district known as their training camp on September 17, 2009 and detained the five persons.

Earlier on September 24, Chittagong District and Session Judge Enamul Haq of the special tribunal sentenced them for seven years of imprisonment under Arms Act.
