DHAKA: A 14-member presidium committee of ruling Awami League (AL) has been announced on Sunday (October 23), the second and concluding day of the party’s national council.

The newly elected presidium members are Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammed Nasim, Sahara Khatun, Kazi Zafarullah, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Syed Mohammad Ashraf, Nurul Islam Nahid, Colonel (retd) Faruk Khan, Dr Abdur Razzak, Advocate Abdul Mannan, Ramesh Chandra and Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya.

Moreover, Mahabub Ul Alam Hanif, Dr Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman elected as joint general secretaries.

HN Ashiqur Rahman will continue as treasurer of the party.

The decision was made in AL national council held at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in city in the afternoon.

Prime Minister and also ruling AL president Sheikh Hasina has unanimously been reelected as party president for eighth time in the council and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader elected as general secretary.
