LAKSHMIPUR: Police detained at least seven Jamaat-e-Islami men including a metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami secretary from Nutun Bazar area under Raipur Thana of the district on Sunday (October 23).

Locals said Jamaat secretary Kamal Uddin, along with hundreds of Jamaat activists, was trying to take possession of Liakat Ali Bhuiyan’s residence and beat four people including Liakat Ali.

Being informed, police detained Kamal Uddin and six other persons from the spot.

Raipur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Lokman Hossain told Banglanews that necessary steps will be taken after investigation.
