THAKURGAON: Police detained a district unit president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, from Thakurgaon sadar town on Monday afternoon (October 24).

The detainee was identified as Rajiur Rahman Raju, president of Thakurgaon district unit Chhatra Shibir president, and son of one Yunus Ali, hailing from Sarkar Para of the town.

Thakurgaon sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mashiur Rahman told Banglanews that they recovered jihadist books from his possession.

Thakurgaon additional police super (ASP) Dewan Lalon Ahmed said Raju was publishing anti-government write-ups on social media sites and conducting activities to create sabotage.

Police sent him to jail, he added.
