RANGPUR: Police on Monday night (October 24) arrested former president of Mithapukur upazila unit Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, from his residence in the upazilla.

The arrestee was identified as Shafayat, son of one Siddiqur Rahman of the upazila.

Mithapukur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Humayun Kabir told Banglanews that he is an accused in 14 cases, including a case on charge of killing six people by hurling petrol bombs in a passenger bus.
