DHAKA: Voting in 400 union parishads (UP) across the country, including the former enclaves, has begun on Monday morning (October 31).
The voting started at 8:00am and will continue uninterruptedly till 4:00pm.
The Election Commission (EC) organized the voting in centers that were postponed, to decide the winner among the candidates who got equal votes, and bi-elections in several UPs.
A general holiday has been declared to the electoral areas.
Sources said, among 400 UPs, 12 UPs have already got chairmen unopposed.
EC deputy-secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan told Banglanews that additional aw enforcers have been deployed at the polling stations.
“We hope it will be a fair election,” he added.
Earlier, the ninth UP polls of the country was held in six phases from March to June this year.
