RAJSHAHI: Police detained two Jamaat-e-Islami men from Arani municipality area under Bagha upazila of Rajshahi district on Monday night (October 31).

The detainees were identified as Arani municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Monirul Islam and an activist Belal Hossain.

Bagha police station officer-in-charge (OC) Ali Mahmud told Banglanews that the detainees were holding a secret meeting in a mosque in the area.

Being tipped off police conducted a drive in the mosque around 9:00 pm and seized them, he added.

The law enforcers also seized one foreign pistol, three rounds of bullets, magazine and books containing Jihadi ideologies from their possession, OC Ali Mahmud added.

Necessary steps will be taken against them, OC added.
