DHAKA: The High Court (HC) granted bail to the imprisoned Sylhet City Corporation mayor (suspended) Ariful Haque Chowdhury over former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case.

An HC bench comprising justice Sayed Mohammad Dastagir Hossain and Ataur Rahman passed the order on Monday (November 13).

Earlier on January 27, 2005, four people, including Kibria, were killed in a grenade attack while addressing a rally in Habiganj district.

Later, Ariful Haque Chowdhury surrendered to court after issuing an arrest warrant against him and was sent to jail as one of the main accused in the case.
