Jamaat stages protest prog Wednesday

DHAKA: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will stage protest programme across the country on Wednesday as the government has approved the draft of voter list keeping provision to exclude the names of convicted war criminals.

Jamaat acting secretary general Rafiqul Islam Khan made the disclosure while talking to journalists on Tuesday.

He said Jamaat would stage the programme demanding cancellation of the provision.

He also claimed government took the decision to keep away Jamaat from the election.

On Monday, the government approved the draft of Voter List (2nd Amendment)-2013 keeping provision to exclude the names of convicted war criminals from voter list.

As per the amendment, the convicted war criminals could not be voters anymore and their name will be excluded from existing list.
