CHITTAGONG: Nine Jamaat-Shibir activists were nabbed for their alleged involvement in attacking an on-duty police official in Kanchana area under Satkania upazila of the district.

Earlier, Satkania police station Sub-Inspector Safayat filed a case against about 75 people in this regard including 25 named.

Police sources said nine people were arrested in several drives from Jotpukuria area on Wednesday night.

Police, however, alleged that they were involved in the attack on police and shoot a police member.

Constable Iqbal sustained bullet injury on his chest when Jamaat-Shibir men attacked on him in Kankchana Jotpukuria area in the upazila on Wednesday.

He is now fighting for his life in a Dhaka hospital, said police sources.

Satkania Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Latif confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The process is underway to send the detainees to court, he added.
