Elections to 29 municipalities in 20 districts of the country will be held on Sunday.

This is the fifth phase municipal elections. The voting will begin at 8:00am and continue till 4:00pm tomorrow without any break.

EC secretary Humayun Kabir Khandaker on Saturday hoped that the election would be held in a free, fair, participatory and festive atmosphere.

He made the expectation at a press conference held at the media center of the election building in Agargaon in the capital this afternoon.

According to the Election Commission (EC), by-elections to chairman posts in four upazila parishads and also in 14 union parishads for different posts would be held on the same day.

The by-elections to upazila parishad of Debidwar in Cumilla will also be held on Sunday.
