The Awami League’s Selina Hayat Ivy has won the mayoral race in the Narayanganj City Corporation election for the third consecutive time.

However, the Election Commission (EC) is yet to announce official results.

Ivy, who has been representing Narayanganj City for 18 years, beat Taimur by a margin of 69,102 votes, according to the preliminary results received from all 192 polling centres.

Ivy bagged 1,61,273 votes while Taimur got 92,171 votes.

Earlier in the day, the voting in the Narayanganj City Corporation elections was held through the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) from 8:00am to 4:00pm without any break.

Apart from mayoral race, there are 180 other candidates -- 148 against councillor posts and 32 for women reserved councillor posts – in the race.
