Bangladesh women secured a seven-wicket victory over Pakistan women in the third ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday.
This win also ensures that the hosts clinch the ODI series 2-1 and gain four crucial points in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25.
Having chosen to bat first, Pakistan posted a total of 166 for nine in their allocated 50 overs. Opening batter Sadaf Shamas and Sidra Amin provided a robust start with a 65-run partnership. Following Sadaf's departure in the 20th over, scoring 31 off 61 balls with two fours, Sidra was joined by Muneeba Ali, returning to the side after missing the second ODI due to injury. Muneeba contributed 14 off 36 balls, including one four, before being dismissed by Shorna Akter in the 31st over.
After Muneeba's departure, Sidra continued to lose her partners, and the tourists concluded their innings at 166 for nine. Sidra remained unbeaten with 84 off 143 balls, featuring three fours. Nahida Akter was Bangladesh's most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 26 runs, while Rabeya Khan also made a significant contribution with two wickets for 35 runs from 10 overs.
In response, Bangladesh's opening pair, Fargana Hoque and Murshida Khatun, forged a solid 125-run partnership for the first wicket. Fargana top-scored with 62 off 113 balls, including five fours, while Murshida, a left-hander, contributed 54 off 106 balls with six boundaries.
Bangladesh successfully chased the target in the 46th over, losing three wickets, with skipper Nigar Sultana and Sobhana Mostary remaining unbeaten. Fargana was named the player of the match, and Nahida, with her seven-wicket haul, earned the player of the series award.
