Shakib third as Test all-rounder

DHAKA: Bangladeshi vice-captain Shakib Al Hasan clinched the third position as test all-rounder with South African Jacques Kallis still on the top.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) published the Reliance Mobile Test Cricket ranking Sunday through a press release.

Shakib scored 334, according to the ranking that evaluated his last two matches of Test series performance against England on May and June this year.

The one-day top all-rounder ever best score was 335 in test cricket last year.

Kallis scored 442, while New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori gripped second position scoring 393.

Two other scorers were English all-rounder Graeme Swann and West Indies Dwayne Bravo.

Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Asif has climbed two places to second position in the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers despite his side was defeat to Australia at Lord’s.

The 27-year-old, who has played 18 Tests, took 3 for 63 in the first innings at Lord’s and 3 for 77 in the second.

He also managed to move ahead of ICC Cricketer of the Year Mitchell Johnson, who has now slipped to fourth place after the Australian took a single wicket in the match.

It is Asif’s highest ranking to date but he has some more way to go if he wants to catch South Africa’s Dale Steyn who currently tops the list, the ICC said.

In the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen, Indian hard hitter Virender Sehwag tops the list with Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardena in the second position.
