21 years have elapsed Bangladesh has achieved test status. Apart from winning against weak oppositions and trapping teams in low slow turning wickets at home Bangladesh could not win test against most oppositions whether at home and abroad.
Bangladesh looses tests within three days to India and Pakistan, losses test against rookie Afghanistan and under strength West Indies. Right at this moment Bangladesh ranks 10th among 12 full member countries. Should not bother about Zimbabwe and Ireland. Time has come to undertake serious soul searching. How can Bangladesh turn around, restructure domestic first-class cricket format enabling spotting talents raw, mentoring and caring them to quality international players for achieving sustainable development. The present diabolic state of Bangladesh test team would soon raise shouts about the utility of Bangladesh remaining in test arena. Question would arise whether Bangladesh should stay away from test cricket for few years and resume after restructuring domestic cricket format. It is a sad commentary that Bangladesh Under 19 team wins world championship but national team continues losing to weaker opponents continuously.
Did Sir Gordon Greenidge Tell Wrong?
West Indian Cricket Icon during 1999 ICC World Cup told an English media that Bangladesh was not ready at that stage for playing test. Did he tell wrong? He was reprimanded. BCCB at that time humiliated him cancelling his contract. Now after 21 years of playing test crickets what achievements Bangladesh made to prove Greenidge wrong? Not to speak of India, Australia, England,South Africa , Pakistan ,Sri Lanka , it will be impossible for Bangladesh winning any test against West Indies and Afghanistan on a fair and sporting wicket . The persons who terminated contract of Greenidge should beg apology.

Theoretically Afghanistan should be ranked above Bangladesh.
Bangladesh ranks 7th in ODI and 8th in T20 ranking. Very soon Bangladesh may deplete in these two formats as well. Who will account for these?
Why BCB Failed Setting Up Enabling Infrastructure Countrywide?
For achieving sustainable success in longer version cricket, you need quality first class longer version cricket on good surfaces, much improved playing facilities countrywide at divisional and district level, organized talent hunting, vibrant cricket academy, neutral talent based player taking process. A country needs much more organized age level cricket, school cricket, regional cricket. Examples are there in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. We are not mentioning about Australia and England, which are way ahead. Well BCB president or few other directors may not have much experience of playing cricket but there exist five former National Cricket captains Minhazul Abedin Nanno, Akram Khan, Nayemur Rahman Durjoy, Akram Khan and Khaled Mahmood Sujon. What they are doing? There are three more executives in BCB Eanyetur Rahman Seraj, Mahbub Anam and Jalal Yunus in the board. What advise they are giving? Some of them are paid executives? Why BCB President has to talk all the time?
Why Bangladesh could not take any preparation for playing test against West Indies? What was the vision of authorities for including 5 pacers in the squad? If their choice was OK why only frontline pacer played in each test? Why inform experienced players Mahmudullah Riad was pruned from test squad? Why ignoring opener Saif Hasan Soumya was called from outside Bio Bubble and pressed to open while he did not open even in ODI? Why Abu Jayed Rahi and Mustafiz could not bowl at tandem in both the test? Who will answer these questions?
BCB President was also asking questions after the Bangladesh was humiliated with whitewash. Those questions cricket admirers should rather ask him and his colleagues in the board.
Bangladesh crickets performance standard diminishing after 2019 world cup. Did BCB ask questions or undertake any soul searching after diabolic performances against Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. Bangladesh engage highly paid coaching staff. What Cricket gains from them? Cannot Bangladesh follow examples of Pakistan and India suing their own coaching staff?
We think enough should be enough for BCB. Bangladesh is going to New Zealand for playing ODI and T20 series. Black Caps are in chilly hot form. Bangladesh cannot cope with them we apprehend. Returning to Bangladesh the team would travel to Sri Lanka. They are also well prepared. Australia, New Zealand and England would visit Bangladesh and then Bangladesh would have to qualify for playing in 2021 T20 world cup due in India. What preparation Bangladesh has or can take?
In not-too-distant past Bangladesh won ICC Under 19 Championship. If that team could be mentored well they could better compete with the under strength West Indies team in ODI. From there some players could be matured with international exposure. BCB must urgently review options. Something is very wrong in thought process. No one is accountable to anyone it appears even from the press meet of BCB President.
