The two-day long ‘Bashundhara Cup Golf Tournament-2022’ was inaugurated formally at the Bhatiary Golf and Country Club (BGCC) in Chattogram in the morning (Saturday).

Bashundhara Bitumen, a concern of the country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, is sponsoring the event.

Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Base Zahurul Haque Air Officer Commanding Air Vice Marshal Md Zahidur Rahman inaugurated the event releasing balloons as the chief guest.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir will distribute prizes among the winners in the afternoon.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest Air Vice Marshal Zahidur thanked the Bashundhara Group for coming forward through sponsoring the golf tournament.

Such cooperation by the largest business group will help development of the golf and encourage the new golfers in the country, said Zahidur, also president of the Shaheen Golf and Country Club.

"I hope the industrial group will also keep its supports continued in the days to come," he added.

Naval Area Commander, Chattogram Rear Admiral M Mozammel Haque also lauded the role of Bashundhara Group.

There are good number of golfers in the country and if they get proper sponsorship golfers like Siddikur Rahman will emerge, he hoped.

The tournament Committee Chairman Farid Uddin conducted the inaugural session while Bashundhara Group Public Relations Department Deputy General Manager (DGM) Squadron Leader (retd) Md Golam Mostafa, Manager Lt (retd) Abdul Mannan, Assistant General Manager (Brand-Communication) Saiful Islam Rubel and BGCC Chief Executive Officer Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Md Toufiqul Islam were present among others.

Mentionable, a total of 222 golfers from home and abroad are taking part in the tournament.
