'Harkat-ul-Jihad' member dies at Kashimpur Jail

Member of militant organization ''Harkat-ul-Jihad'' (HuJI) died inside Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail in Gazipur on Friday (Jan 6) morning.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hossain Khokon, 55, son of Abdul Khalek of Rajdhar area of Kotwali in Barishal.

According to Kashimpur Central Jail-2 sources, Harkatul Jihad Huji member Khokon was imprisoned since 2016. He suddenly fell ill inside the jail. At that time he was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Later, the doctor made an examination and declared him dead. In jail, he was prisoner no- 2183/16.

Senior Jail Superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 Amirul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said the body will be handed over to the relatives after legal proceedings.
