A Jamalpur court has accepted the plaintiff's objection to the CID's investigation report in the murder case of journalist Nadim and directed the RAB to take over the probe.
The order was issued on Wednesday (Nov 13) afternoon by Judge Tauhid Hasan Piyas of the Bakshiganj Magistrate Court under the Jamalpur Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.
Advocate Md. Anisur Rahman, representing the plaintiff, said that the CID had submitted its investigation report on August 27, 2023, but excluded several key accused mentioned in the initial complaint. Following which, the plaintiff filed an objection on September 10.
After hearing the objection today, the judge accepted and instructed the RAB to conduct the investigation further.
Monira Begum, the widow of Nadim and the plaintiff in the case, expressed her dissatisfaction with the previous investigation, stating that it had been conducted without her input or knowledge, resulting in what she described as a one-sided charge sheet.
She said, “I expressed my dissatisfaction because I was not consulted during the investigation. I want a fair trial, regardless of which agency investigates.”
On the night of June 14, 2023, journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim was allegedly attacked by a group of assailants led by former Sadurpara Union Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu in the Pathati area of Bakshiganj.
Nadim succumbed to his injuries the following day at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. All of the accused, including Babu, are currently out on bail.
