The national emergency service 999 has been temporarily suspended due to the massive fire that broke out in Bangabazar on Tuesday (April 4) morning in the capital.
Md Kamrul Hasan, public relations officer of the police headquarters confirmed the matter today.
In case of emergency, please contact the local police station or fire station, he added.
Earlier today, the fire that broke out at the Bangabazar around 6:10am, was brought under control at 12:36pm.
A total 48 units of fire service worked about 6 and a half hours tirelessly to bring the fire under control.
Earlier, the fire broke out in Bangabazar at 6:10 am. Later, the fire spread to nearby four other markets.
The cause of fire and the extent of damages could not be ascertained immediately.
