The MV HT Unit ship, carrying 10,850 tonnes of parboiled rice from India, arrived at Chattogram Port today under the International Open Tender Agreement (Package-8), the Food Ministry announced.

As part of a deal to import 500,000 tonnes of rice from India, a total of 450,000 tonnes is being shipped in nine consignments. 

So far, 366,769 tonnes have already reached Bangladesh.

Authorities have completed sample testing of the rice onboard, and unloading will commence soon, with necessary arrangements in place, the ministry said.
