DHAKA: Sajeda Sweety, Staff Correspondent of online news portal banglanews24.com, was injured severely as blockade supporters blasted cocktail in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan office in the city on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place around 7:15pm during 48-hour long blockade called by opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance.

She was rushed to nearest Islami Hospital after she had received injuries at her two legs in the blast.

Sweety has been working on BNP beat at the leading online news portal in the country for long days.

On Monday, Staff Photo Correspondent of the news portal Jahid Simon was injured in a cocktail blast at Mohakhali in the city and he was rushed to Ayesha Memorial Hospital.

Earlier, Staff Correspondent Sayeed Shipon was also inured while he was discharging his professional duty at a hospital in the city.

Meanwhile, banglanews Editor-in-Chief Alamgir Hossain firmly condemned such kind of attack on journalists during their professional duty.

He said, “Such a directly attack on the journalists is a matter of concern. It cannot be acceptable. It will bring irreparable loss if the attack is going on.”
