Six farmers were killed in lightning while harvesting paddy in haor areas of three upazilas under Sunamganj on Sunday (April 23).  
  
Tahirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the matter.

The incidents of lightning took place this morning and afternoon at Tahirpur upzila, Doara Bazar upazila and Chatak upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as Mohim Miah, Arash Ali, Abdus Samad, residents of Chhatak upazila, Tara Miah, Milon MIah, residents of Dowarabazar upazila, and Ramjan Miah, of Tahirpur upazila in the district.

According to police information, harvesting of Boro paddy is going on in Sunamganj. Farmers went to the field for harvesting paddy. It was raining since morning. But sudden lightning killed six farmers in the field.
