Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three people for their alleged involvement in smuggling crystal meth at Balukhali border in Cox's Bazar.

The arrestees are - Bujurus Mia, known as Yaba Godfather, and his two accomplices, Ismail, 23, and Saidul Bashar, 40. All of them are residents of Balukhali in Ukhiya.

According to information, BGB team conducted a raid on early Wednesday (April 26) and recovered 21 kg of crystal meth also known as Ice.

Cox's Bazar 34 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury confirmed the matter.

He said, "There was information that a large consignment of drugs from Myanmar will enter Bangladesh through the Palangkhali Rahmat border area pillar No. 20, and accordingly our team was ready."

After that, sensing the presence of BGB 6-7 people tried to escape the scene. Later, when the BGB members chased them, they dropped two sacks. Meanwhile, three people were arrested, and the others managed to escape the scene, said Saiful Islam.

However, there was 21.90 kg of ice in those sacks, and the market value of the recovered ice is around Tk 100 crore, he added.
