A man has been arrested from Jashore's jail road area for allegedly raping a university student on Thursday (May 4).

The arrestee Sudipto Hasan Dipto, is a MBBS doctor, and son of Toibur Rahman, hails from Jashore's old Kosba Dhaka road area.

According to the police source, on the basis of the victim's complaint, Dipto was arrested.  

The victim on her case statement said she met Dipto through Facebook in 2017. After that, Dipto promised her of marriage and raped her in several places. Later, he broke his promises and started plotting to harm the victim. This is why now the victim is seeking help from the law.

Jashore Kotwali police station's inspector (Investigation) Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury confirmed the matter.

Initially, the truth of the incident was found. Besides, the victim is undergoing medical examination, he added.
