Bangladesh is operating four chartered flights from Sudan, at its own cost, to evacuate 555 Bangladeshi citizens to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
"As we have yet to find available ships from the Saudi authorities to transport the Bangladeshis from Port Sudan to Jeddah, we have chartered four planes with our own funds," said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam at the foreign ministry today (May 10).
Three of the chartered flights will be operated today, while the fourth will be operated tomorrow, he also said.
Once they reach Jeddah, they will be brought back to Dhaka shortly.
On Tuesday, 136 Bangladeshi nationals arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
