The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 will deliver its verdict any day in a case filed against four alleged Razakars from Bagharpara, Jashore, for their crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War.
Justice Md Shahinur Islam, chairman of the three-judge panel of the ICT-1, kept the judgment on CAV (curia advisory vault, a Lating legal term meaning the court awaits verdict) as the legal arguments came to an end in the case today (May 11).
The four accused in the case are- Md Amzad Hossain Mollah, Md Ohab Mollah, Md Mahatab Biswas and Md Fasiar Rahman Mollah. There were one more accused in the case, Md Nowsher Biswas, but he died while on the run. Of the four accused, only Amzad is in jail, while the others are yet to be arrested.
Senior prosecutor Haider Ali, prosecutor Md Sahidur Rahman and Rezia Sultana Chaman took part in the hearing for the state, while advocate Gazi MH Tamim and advocate Abdus Sattar Palowan argued for the accused as the state appointed counsels.
The ICT-1 on July 29 in 2019, framed four charges of crimes against humanity including murder, torture, abduction and confinement, against the accused.
