GAZIPUR: Some 11 fire fighting units have been trying to douse the devastating fire at the garment factory of Standard Group and adjacent buildings in Konabari of Gazipur for last nine hours.

No one was reportedly hurt till the report was filed at 9:00am Friday.

The fire spread around the factory and adjacent buildings in the area and people were seen leaving houses for safe zone being panicked.

At 12:00am Friday, some workers of Standard Group set fire to packaging unit of the factory hearing rumor of death of a co-worker in police firing.

However a local witness told banglanews that police held a worker of the factory when he just finished his tiffin at a food shop in front of the factory.

Police shot him when he showed them the identity card of Standard Group.

Centering the incident, workers set fire in packaging unit and torched two covered van of the factory.
