Journalist Azhar Mahmud passes away

Journalist Azhar Mahmud has passed away at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka.

He was 53. 

Azhar was former general secretary of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB)

He was the editor-in-chief of Campuslive24.com, breathed his last in the hospital at about 3.00pm on Sunday (May 14). He was suffering from liver cirrhosis.

His first namaz-e-janaza was held at city’s Shaheenbag area after Magrhib prayers. His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Dhaka Reporters Unity premises at 8:30 pm on Sunday. 

The family informed that his body will be buried at Madan upazila in Netrakona village.

Later, he will be laid to rest at his family graveyard at Madan upazila of Netrakona district.

Azhar Mahmud worked at Voice of America, Dainik Bangla Bazar, Dainik Manabzamin, Boishakhi Television and BTV.
