An elephant died after a train hit it in Dhaka's Uttara area on Wednesday (May 17).

The incident happened around 1:45 pm at the Court Bari area when two elephants, guided by their keepers, were walking along the rail tracks.

Sub-inspector Akbar Ali, in charge of the Airport Railway Police Outpost, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

A Chattogram-bound train hit one of the elephants, leaving the animal dead on the spot, he said, adding police are looking for the elephant keeper.
