A man was stabbed to death in Dhaka's Agargaon area early Monday (June 26).

The deceased was identified as Azim Islam, 55. He was a security guard at 59 West Agargaon Mia Tower. Azim was from the Tangail district.

According to Imam Hossain, the owner of a flat in Mia Tower, a young man named Sagor, 18, who is a tenant at the building, is the perpetrator.

Around 3am, Sagor locked into an altercation with security guard Azim over opening the gate late at night, said Imam Hossain, adding at one stage, Sagor stabbed Azim with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Azim died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 4 am.

Sher-e- Bangla Nagar police station Sub-Inspector Md. Imran confirmed the matter.

The dead body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for autopsy, he added.
