A Lakshmipur court on Tuesday (August 22) convicted 11 accused to life-term imprisonment in the murder case of Khorshed Alam Miron, a Union Parishad member of Dattapara under Sadar upazila of the district, in 2019.

The convicts are Jamal Hossain, Jasim Uddin, Md Shah Jahan, Faisal Khan Joy, Md. Milon alias CNG Milon, Al Amin, Barkat, Nishan, Rubel, Alauddin Suman. All the accused are inhabitants of Sadar upazila of the district.

Judge of Lakshmipur District and Sessions Judge Court Md Rahibul Islam passed the order afternoon.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default they will have to suffer one year more in jail.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Jasim Uddin confirming the matter said court acquitted 11 people from the case as the charges were not proved against them.

However, Miron's wife expressed strong dissatisfaction over the verdict and demanded maximum punishment of the accused.

On September 9, 2019 at around 8:30 PM some miscreants shot Miron to death.
Later, Miron's wife Tahmina Akhter filed a murder case on September 30 at Chandraganj police station accusing unknown persons.
