A total of 181 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces were deployed across the country, including 33 in Dhaka and adjacent districts, to maintain law and order situation.
BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Wednesday (November 15).
Besides, an adequate number of BGB personnel were kept on standby to promptly respond to any emergency in the country.
Amid the ongoing workers’ unrest in the garments sector, BGB personnel were also deployed in Dhaka and adjacent areas to ensure security.
On first day of the 48-hour blockade, 33 BGB platoons were deployed in Dhaka and adjoining districts on Wednesday to avoid any untoward incidents.
This is the fifth round of 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP.
The party has announced a series of hartals and blockades since their October 28 rally was foiled.
