A man and his son were killed as a bus hit their motorbike at Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali district on Wednesday (December 27).

The accident happened around 11am in Junudpur area under Joyag union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Liton Debnath, 46, and his son Pranta Debnath, 10. Both were residents of Bhatpara village under Ward no-1 in the union.

According to locals, the accident occurred when a the driver of a Janani Paribahan passenger bus lost control over the steering of the vehicle and rammed Liton's motorbike, leaving the duo dead on the spot and son of the deceased critically injured.

Sonaimuri Police Station officer-in-charge Md Bakhtiar Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said the bus fell into a roadside ditch after crushing the duo to death on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body and kept at the upazila health complex, he added.
